    Tongue spasm is a rare condition. Tongue spasm belongs to a family of disorders known as dystonia, which are characterized by repeated and uncontrolled muscle contractions. A person may inherit an increased risk for developing tongue spasm from a parent. Tongue spasm are also a symptom of some illnesses, such as Huntington's disease, and can be a side effect of certain medications.
