Suzanne Modigliani of Harvard Health Publications answered:
If it is hard for an older adult to grip items or bend when getting dressed, consider products that help. A dressing stick, shoehorn, or sock helper will allow a person to pull on clothes. Choose shoes with Velcro fasteners or more stylish elastic laces. Loafers are easy to wear, too, if a person doesn't have trouble balancing. A consultation with an occupational therapist for more recommendations and training can be helpful.
