A pre-competition meal for an athlete will provide them with the appropriate balance of nutrients for their competitions. These meals may differ greatly with the type of event. For example, a marathon runner has different nutritional needs than a sprinter. The marathon runner will need to take in food that will allow them to perform at a high level for an extended time. The sprinter will need to take in food that will allow them to perform at a high level for a short period of time.

To have the best understanding of your specific pre-competition meal needs, I would suggest working with a nutritionist or registered dietitian.
