The microalbumin test is a good early warning system for kidney problems. The test checks for small amounts of protein in your urine. Your kidneys filter your blood to remove harmful substances in your urine. Most protein should stay in your blood. If you have too much protein in your urine, you might have kidney damage. Because exercise can change the results, avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours before this urine test.
