The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study from Europe involving approximately 500,000 people revealed a direct correlation between intake of red meat and colorectal cancer (CRC), as well as a protective effect for the regular consumption of fish. The National Cancer Institute-American Association of Retired Person (NIC-AARP) Diet and Health Study, also with roughly 500,000 participants, revealed a similar correlation between red meat consumption and an increased risk of CRC.
