A traditional dental bridge, also called a fixed partial denture, uses false teeth to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge is held in place by attaching it to implants or crowns placed on the teeth on either side of the gap caused by the missing tooth or teeth. The bridge is cemented into place and can't be removed except by a dentist. In a traditional dental bridge, the false teeth, called pontics, are usually made of ceramic or porcelain fused to metal.
