The Happiness Project started as a yearlong experiment for a book. Its creator, Gretchen Rubin, was working as an attorney and Supreme Court law clerk in 2006 when she realized that her vaguely stated goals - and her failure to achieve them - were the reasons she felt she was wasting her life. Her happiness, she noted, was in her hands. Rubin tested as many ideas about finding happiness as she could, drawing from sources from Aristotle to Oprah Winfrey. Her efforts and her blog have evolved into an online movement with in-person support groups.
