What is the best way to consume spices?

Dr. Dean Ornish answered:One way, of course, is to add spices to your cooking. Dried spices are available in most supermarkets, but you may find that the ones in your local ethnic market or spice store are more potent and fresher, and it may have a wider selection. Fresh herbs, especially organic ones, are usually more flavorful and better for you than dried herbs.
You can also buy extracts of many spices in capsules or tablets. These have the advantage of being easy to take, even when you eat out, and they are often in higher concentrations than are usually found in foods.
Variety is the spice of life, and enjoying a variety of spices may help you live a healthier life as well as a more flavorful one.
