What is structural scoliosis?

Scoliosis is a condition in which the spine curves from side-to-side, appearing somewhat like the letters S or C. Scoliosis most often occurs to children in their middle to late childhood, usually before puberty. Scoliosis is broken down into two categories: structural and nonstructural. Structural is a fixed curve that is sometimes caused by an underlying condition or disease, but is more often caused by no determinable reason.
