    Polycystic liver disease is a rare, genetic condition that causes people to develop many cysts in the liver. Most of these cysts do not require surgery. Sometimes these cysts grow and press on nearby organs. When that happens, your doctor will recommend surgery to remove or open the cysts. In some rare cases, a liver transplant is the best option.
