Out-of-pocket expenses are costs you pay out of your own pocket that are not reimbursed by your health insurance company. Out-of-pocket expenses can include co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance.  Your health insurance plan will "cap" your out-of-pocket expenses, which means that once you reach the maximum out-of-pocket costs, your health plan takes over and provides coverage for the rest. Review your plan documents for specific details on your plan’s out-of-pocket maximum.
