Januvia is an oral prescription medication, in tablet form, that is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar levels in adults who have type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes. Januvia is not a treatment for type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. The active ingredient in Januvia is sitagliptin, also known as sitagliptin phosphate. It is unknown if Januvia can be safely used in children under 18 years.
