    Stacy Wiegman answered:
Herceptin is the brand name of an injectable drug that contains the active ingredient trastuzumab. It is a drug scientifically engineered to treat HER2-positive cancers. This includes HER2 overexpressing metastatic (spread to other body parts) breast cancer, early-stage breast cancer and gastric cancer. It inhibits the proliferation of and kills tumor cells that overexpress a protein called HER2. This protein gives a high degree of aggressiveness to cancer cells.
