Copaxone (glatiramer) is a drug prescribed for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Copaxone reduces the number of relapses. The drug is available in prefilled syringes. The dose is administered by injection under the skin once a day. Copaxone is a combination of four amino acids. It is believed that Copaxone changes the way the immune system reacts in multiple sclerosis. It prevents harmful cells from developing, and it stimulates beneficial cells in the body. These cells help reduce damage, but do not cure the condition.
