What is an optical migraine?

This is not a medical term, but refers to a migraine associated with a visual aura. The type of visual aura varies widely but usually involves a blind spot and a flashing component. The reason it is not an accurate term is that this does not actually involve the eye, but rather the portion of the brain, generally the occipital lobe, where the brain processes vision. Blind individuals may experience the same symptoms.
