    Dr. Natalia Rost answered:
Intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy is a method for delivering clot-busting medication, usually tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), using a catheter placed directly into the artery near the clot. Intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy is also useful for patients with severe neurological deficits, patients who are diagnosed between three and six hours after their symptoms begin, and those who have recently had a major surgical procedure.
