Anyone of any age, anywhere in the world may contract viral gastroenteritis, or stomach flu. Those who spend a good deal of time in closed quarters, like daycares, schools, and nursing homes, may be more vulnerable than others. In developing countries, stomach flu can be lethal. In countries with tepid climates, the virus is more prevalent in the winter months.
