Those with a weakened immune system because of chemotherapy, an organ transplant, or HIV/AIDS are more susceptible to fungal infections. A lack of cleanliness can also lead to fungal infections as it provides an ideal place for fungi to thrive. Additionally, if you share many items or if you use public restrooms or showers you are more likely to develop a contagious form of fungi. Some fungi, however, can infect you no matter the health of your immune system or the precautions you take.
