What increases my risk for early menopause?

Dr. Mehmet Oz answered:A woman might enter menopause ahead of schedule--that is, before age 40--for no apparent reason. However, early menopause can be brought on by certain medical procedures and has been linked to some diseases.
You are guaranteed to experience early menopause if you have your ovaries removed. These organs produce eggs and estrogen. When the ovaries are surgically removed, menopause begins immediately. Women have their ovaries removed for a number of reasons, but primarily to treat and lower the risk for certain cancers. Removal of the uterus can bring on symptoms of menopause, too.
You may experience early menopause if you undergo other medical treatments that can damage the ovaries. These include chemotherapy and radiation treatments for certain cancers.
Some diseases can harm the ovaries, making them unable to produce eggs and estrogen.
