    Dr. Mehmet Oz answered:
If you have ever smoked and are between age 65 and 75, ask your doctor about performing a one-time ultrasound test for an abdominal aortic aneurysm, a bulge in the large blood vessel called the aorta that carries blood to your abdomen and lower body. Besides smoking, you could be more likely to develop this serious condition if someone in your family had this type of aneurysm, or if you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, are obese, or have emphysema.
