The most hopeful part of your fibromyalgia diagnosis is that the condition is not fatal, nor does fibromyalgia do any obvious damage to your muscles or internal organs. Many people are living with this condition with a positive attitude and wonderful quality of life.

Even though fibromyalgia is a chronic condition, there are ways that you can reduce your stress, pain and fatigue. Try to live as healthy a life as possible, with good nutrition and regular exercise. Healthy food and exercise will help you sleep better. When you are well rested, you will feel better and suffer less fatigue.

Talk with your doctor or healthcare provider to learn how to manage your fibromyalgia and explore treatments that can improve your symptoms. Try each day to be hopeful about the positive things you can do to manage your condition.

One hopeful aspect of a fibromyalgia diagnosis is understanding that the condition will not cause permanent damage. Fibromyalgia is not an autoimmune disease that causes degenerative changes. Fibromyalgia symptoms can be very painful and exasperating, but your muscles, tendons, bones, and organs are not being hurt. Many treatments can help you feel better, including mind-body approaches such as yoga and tai chi. In the meantime, you can rest assured that your fibromyalgia is not causing permanent injury.
