What should I do if I have thoughts of suicide?
-
If you are in severe mental pain, and considering suicide, talk to someone. Your life is worthwhile, even if you do not think so at this moment. You have unbearable pain; try to share it with someone right now. Please do not do anything rash.
You need to talk to someone who will understand the extreme distress you are feeling. Tell yourself that you do not need to die now. Consider that you could put it off for a day, or two days or even a week. Confide in a close friend or family member. Phone or meet someone close to you who knows what it is like to think of taking one's life. It may be a nurse or doctor you know.Helpful? 1 person found this helpfulIf you are in severe mental pain, and considering suicide, talk to someone. Dr. Ileen Craven of Honor Society of Nursing (STTI) answered:Pain comes in many forms and though many are taught about physical pain, there is less conversation of mental pain. Sucidal thoughts and actions are types of mental pain and anguish. They are often based on feelings of hoplessness, helplessness, and feeling alone, even if surrounded by others.
Find someone immediately to talk with: whether it be a family member, a counselor, a suicide hotline, a friend, or neighbor. Life is worth living and other people can help you get through the anguish of feeling that ending your life is the only solution to your anguish and pain. The ability to find joy and happiness in life is within your reach. You are not alone, please repeat this to yourself. Seek the help you need: you will find many are willing to help you through this troubling time.
