    Challenge America answered:
When you go see a mental health provider you can expect to receive a formal assessment for specific conditions such as depression of PTSD. The assessment will be used to help create a treatment plan for you that may include psychotherapy – individual or group – and medications, if necessary.

Your plan will help address any immediate health and safety concerns, educate you about trauma and reactions to it in order to offset post-trauma reaction, validate your assault, support your current coping techniques (if they’ve been effective) and develop new ones. Finally, your mental health provider will work to resolve feelings of anger, fear or disillusionment.
