    SCAI answered:
A baby born with tricuspid atresia will develop normally before birth while in the mother’s womb. Even after birth the child does well - for the first few hours. After that, the baby’s health deteriorates because the blood flow to the lungs is inadequate to oxygenate the body. The baby may develop a bluish discoloration of the skin called cyanosis. Babies born with this heart defect typically will require several heart surgeries.
