    During your hospital stay after carotid endarterectomy, your blood pressure will be carefully monitored and controlled. Even after you leave the hospital, your neck will feel sore and you'll have trouble swallowing for a few days. You won't be allowed to do any heavy lifting for three weeks, but you should be able to return to your normal daily activities within a month.
