Direct methods include: self-awareness, a cognitive technique that helps you constructively acknowledge and feel emotional disturbances; and higher-level thinking, a rapid method of getting an objective perspective on negative behaviors and habits. As first explained by Gay Hendricks, Ph.D., in his book, At the Speed of Life: A New Approach to Personal Change Through Body-Centered Therapy, direct clearing methods work primarily by having you place nonjudgmental awareness on a problem for a period of time. Putting neutral attention on the thought or emotion removes its power; the blockage is “starved” of energy, it eventually dissolves, and your negative programming is effectively neutralized or bypassed.
