Because most mobile phones include many bells and whistles, you'll need to take special precautions by adding parental control services to your teen's wireless number. For a small monthly fee (usually five dollars a month), all major wireless providers in the United States offer a parental control feature, allowing parents to "set text boundaries" and help with:
    • Limiting the number of texts sent/received
    • Restricting the times of day the cell phone can be used
    • Global positioning system (GPS) location and zoning (this is sometimes a separate service)
    • Restricting online purchases
    • Controlling what number can be blocked from calling or sending/receiving text messages
    • Filtering content/blocking Internet usage
