    Dr. Mehmet Oz answered:
The benefits of hypnosis for fibromyalgia haven't been well researched. In the small studies that have been conducted, people with fibromyalgia who underwent hypnosis had less pain compared to people with fibromyalgia who didn't get hypnosis. So it's a promising approach, but more research needs to be done to know how effective hypnosis really is for fibromyalgia.

It's not clear whether hypnosis can help with fibromyalgia symptoms such as pain and fatigue. The quality of the research conducted to date has been poor, and more and better reserach is needed. In theory, hypnosis induces a deeply relaxed state in which the practioner can help you alter your sensations, perceptions and emotions.

If you are diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have questions about treatment options, talk with your doctor or healthcare provider about all treatment options, including some alternative therapies. You and your doctor can look at all of the treatment options and determine which treatment plan is best for your symptoms.
