Because of its anti-clotting properties, there are certain activities, medications, and beverages that should be avoided while on Plavix. Contact sports and other activities that knock the body around should be avoided to reduce the risk of cuts and bruises. Likewise, because alcohol can cause bleeding in the stomach and intestines, it should be taken in moderation if it can't be avoided entirely. While on Plavix, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen should only be taken with a doctor's permission.
