Stacy Wiegman answered:While using diabetic needles and syringes avoid holding or uncapping the insulin bottle with unwashed hands or plunging a needle into the bottle that has not first been wiped down with an alcohol cloth.
To prevent insulin from leaking out of the injection site, hold the needle at a 90 degree angle as you insert it into your skin, press the in plunger more slowly and wait a few seconds before removing the needle.
