    SCAI answered:
Thrombolytics are often referred to as clot busters, and for good reason. Patients with existing blood clots may be administered these drugs in the hospital to dissolve the clots. Thrombolytics are administered to a patient  intravenously once the patient has been determined to be a good candidate for the medication.

    Examples of Thrombolytics:
    tenecteplase (TNKase)
    alteplase (Activase)
    urokinase (Abbokinase, Kinlytic)
    reteplase (Retavase, Rapilysin)
    streptokinase (Streptase)
