What are the symptoms of bladder stones?

You may not experience any pain from your bladder stones, especially if they are small ones. But you may feel lower abdominal pain, and frequent or painful urination. Bladder stones can make urination difficult when they block the urethra, and can cause incontinence. They may make your urine appear darker in color than usual. If you have bladder stones, there could be blood in your urine.

Approximately 95% of bladder stone patients are men. Symptoms occur when the stone irritates the lining of the bladder or obstructs the flow of urine from the bladder. Symptoms can include:
- Abdominal pain or pressure
- Blood in the urine
- Difficulty urinating
- Dysuria (pain with urination)
- Incontinence
- Inability to urinate except in certain positions
- Interruption of the urine stream (stop/start)
- Pain, discomfort in the penis
- Urinary urgency
- Urine discoloration (dark-colored urine)
