    Neuroendocrine/carcinoid tumors are a relatively rare form of cancer. These tumors develop primarily in the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, such as the small intestine or rectum. They can also appear in the pancreas, appendix, or lung. These tumors grow very slowly, and can often go undetected until they spread to the liver and begin to cause symptoms.
