  1. Learning disabilities are a group of brain disorders that compromise a person's ability to take in, remember, or use what they learn about the world around them. The term integration learning disabilities (ILD) specifically refers to those disorders where a person has difficulty making sense of information that is presented to them. There are three knowledge acquisition processes that may be affected by an ILD - sequencing, abstraction and organization. Sequencing involves putting information in the proper order. Abstraction refers to the idea of understanding a concept beyond its literal presentation. Organization involves arranging the information such that it becomes a cohesive thought. Integration learning disabilities may be present at birth or acquired later in life.
