When choosing an over-the-counter product, the first thing to look for is the American Dental Association's (ADA) Seal of Acceptance. The Seal may be found on many types of oral care products. The Seal is your assurance that the product has met the ADA's criteria for safety and effectiveness. (Sometimes a given product category does not yet have any ADA Accepted products. This is currently the case with over-the-counter tooth bleaches.) Your dentist is always able to recommend a product or treatment suitable for your needs.
