What vision problems can be corrected at the same time as my cataract?
-
Dr. Michael Reynard answered:The primary purpose of cataract surgery is to restore clarity of vision by removing a cloudy lens and replacing it with a clear artificial lens called an intraocular lens implant. Technology for intraocular lens implants and procedures to refine clarity of vision have become remarkably advanced. Premium intraocular lens implants are designed to correct astigmatism and provide simultaneous ability to see adequately for distance and near. The simultaneous ability to see clearly for near and distance minimizes dependence on glasses. Modifying the shape of the eye with a procedure called LRI may be done at the time of cataract surgery to reduce or eliminate astigmatism.
