    Dr. Michael Roizen answered:

Vision-care insurance usually offers discounts on eye exams, prescription lenses, eyeglass frames, contact lenses, and LASIK surgery. Some plans also offer benefit packages for eye surgery and eye diseases. The options, providers, and discounts vary considerably from plan to plan, so whip out that magnifying glass and read the fine print so you can find the best plan for your needs.

    UnitedHealthcare answered:
Vision insurance may be included as a benefit with your Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), or Point of Service(POS) managed care plan, or vision insurance could be part of your Fee-For-Services (FFS) plan. If your employer group health plan does not offer vision insurance, you can get a vision plan directly from a health insurance company or a company that offers vision benefits. Talk to your employer about vision care coverage to see if it is available. If it isn't available, you may want to find a qualified insurance agent to add vision coverage to your health insurance benefits.
