What type of doctor treats dementia?

Many types of doctors can treat dementia because dementia can be caused by different things.  For instance, one of the most common causes of dementia in seniors is from urinary tract infections which any type of medical doctor can treat.

Other types of doctors who treat dementia are a primary care physician, a neurologist, a geriatrician or a physician who works out of a memory clinic. It's usually best to start with a visit to the physician who has been caring for you or your loved one for a period of time, because they may have some insight into any mental changes that are occurring.
