How should I be treated by my breast cancer doctor’s office staff?

Were you and your loved ones greeted warmly? Did you have to wait for a long time to see the doctor? Did the staff seem efficient and courteous? Did they have a copy of your pathology report ready for you when you got there? Did they handle your insurance forms well? Were you offered additional assistance from a nurse, nurse navigator, or access to a social worker?

Or did you feel that you had been dropped into a medical version of a chain fast food eatery, focused on quantity and not the quality of service?

Also think about how well organized your doctor or surgeon seemed. Was she ready to speak with you? Had your pathology report, X-rays, and medical records been assembled in advance?  All of these little things add up and can ultimately make a big difference in your overall satisfaction with this doctor or surgeon. You don’t need any more stress in your life.
