It is absolutely important to take your blood pressure medicine as prescribed by your physician. If you are taking one agent or several agents to control your blood pressure, very important biological pathways are being "blocked" to prevent problems such as "volume overload"  and/or "vasoconstriction" which is a narrowing of the arterial "pipelines" that carry blood flow to our entire body. Hypertension will require daily ingestion of prescribed medication to maintain blood pressure control. Unless advised by your physician, you should never stop taking your blood pressure medicines once your blood pressure has reached its goal. Doing so can cause dangerous rebound hypertension that could result in heart attacks, strokes and other vascular complications.
