The Food and Drug Administration recently issued a revision of safety information for Nexium, linking the medication to bone fractures. The warning applied to all medications that are part of the category of proton pump inhibitors, which Nexium is a part of. The increased fracture risk applies specifically to the hip, wrist, and spine and applies most to people who either took large doses over a short period of time, or those who were on the medication for more than a year.
