There are many formulas that have been developed to estimate a 1 rep max bench press based on a specific number of actual repetitions performed. The accuracy of these tests vary, and the higher amount of reps you perform the accuracy of the estimation declines. The only way to truly determine your 1 rep max is to actually perform a 1 rep max. Most experts will agree that even a 2 rep max may not 100% estimate a 1 rep max and the demands placed on the body from a physical, mechanical, and physiological stand point are always slightly different between one all out lift and multiple sub maximal lifts.
