If an implant (or implants) fit into the overall plan, the dentist can review the pros and cons, and answer questions you may have. If your general dentist doesn't place the implants, he/she will provide you with a referral to a specialist who does. Using your general dentist as the "hub" will allow your general dentist to communicate with the specialist any particular concerns he has about your specific situation. After the implant(s) has integrated, you will return to the general dentist for the final prosthetic (implant- supported crown, bridge, or denture). There is a better chance that the final aesthetic outcome of your implant investment will be to your liking when the professionals take the time to communicate with each other regarding your case.
