  1. Red, painful, swelling skin is the most common symptom of many electrical burns, but more severe burns of the third degree may actually look white or even black, if charred. Skin may also look shiny or develop blisters in second-degree burns. Third-degree burns may cause the skin to appear rough and leathery. High-voltage currents can cause electrical burns within the body as well.
