Strength training is a weight-bearing exercise.  Strength training loads your bones, muscles, and other connective tissues and makes them stronger.

Strength training in a standing position creates an even greater weight bearing load to the body (because you also have to work against gravity and momentum)

Strength training can be considered a weight-bearing  exercise when one or both feet are in touch with a surface. It has been shown to improve bone density when performed for an extended period of time (12+ months) with intensities above 70% of the 1 repetition maximum, training at least 2 times per week.

Yes strength training is considered a weight bearing exercise. The added weight/load during strength training places greater demands on your bones and muscular structure.

If you are strength training now or planning to, I recommend meeting with a NASM personal trainer to investigate stabilization level training. Stabilization level training provides an excellent foundation and maintenance for your body health in your fitness program.

Stabilization training will improve and increase: muscular endurance, joint stability, flexibility, posture control, and neuromuscular efficiency. Stabilization level training will also address muscular imbalances and corrective flexibility.

This is THE weight bearing exercise that can be done by almost anyone age 12 and up. There are other weight bearing exercises like body weight that can help build bone strength as well as water weights. Without weight bearing exercises the bones adapt accordingly by getting less dense. This can lead to osteoporosis which is very painful and none of us want to experience this kind of pain and that is why weight bearing exercise is important for everyone to do after they have had a physical and a green light from their physician.

Absolutely, anytime you are working with resistance you are doing a weight-bearing activity. You can use fixed weight machines, bands, free weights or even your own body weight and you are strengthening bones, tendons, ligaments, and muscles.

Yes.  Strength training is a weight-bearing exercise.  Strength training puts a load on your bones, muscles, as well as other connective tissues making them stronger.

Strength training is even more beneficial when performed using free weights, standing for greater load, and in an unstable environment if you wish to work on your balance and core strength at the same time.

Yes it is!  Strength training is considered weight bearing exercise.  When lifting a weight you contract your muscles.  When your muscles contract it pulls on your bones.  This stress put on your bones is a good thing and will make them stronger.  Along with that you will build more muscle which will make you feel healthy and strong!  Also doing anything up on your feet is good to build strong bones.
