Staying healthy after heart valve replacement is very similar to general health guidelines.  If you are overweight, lose weight.  Being overweight adds more stress to the heart.  Take your medications as directed by your physician.  If you have must be on a "blood thinner" such as warfarin for your valve condition, get your lab test as ordered.  Exercise regularly. (Walking 30 mins 5 or more days of the week as you can is good.)  Avoid adding any salt to the table or cooking.
