How can I make my sore heal faster?
-
Burke Lennihan RN CCH answered:Calendula is the best natural remedy for any time the skin is broken, whether from a cut (like from broken glass or a sharp knife), a laceration (like a skinned knee, when all the skin is scraped off), a surgical incision, or an episiotomy.
Calendula is available both as an herbal remedy and a homeopathic remedy in any health food store. The homeopathic remedy is stronger and faster acting, although the herbal tincture is also great for applying to the wound. (The herbal extract may sting due to the alcohol content.)
The homeopathic version will be in a tube marked 30c for the potency (strength) and will look like tiny sugar pellets. A couple of advantages of this version:
- It can be taken dissolved in the mouth and will work from the inside out to heal cuts anywhere in the body.
- The pellets can be dissolved in water (1 pellet to ½ cup of water, you may need to crush it in order to dissolve it) and then it can be applied externally without stinging.
- Kids enjoy taking the pellets.
- bring the sides of the cut or incision together
- help prevent infection
- speed healing
- reduce pain, for example after surgery or after a tooth extraction
- help prevent scarring.
Directions: For oral doses, dissolve a couple of pellets in the mouth as a dose, two to four times a day. Before surgery, you can take it preventively: a couple of pellets right before you leave to go in for surgery.
