What are the side effects of treating anaplastic thyroid cancer?

Anaplastic thyroid cancer is treated aggressively with surgery and drugs, which often times have unpleasant side effects. People given radioactive iodine, which makes sure all thyroid tissue is completely gone, may experience dry eyes and mouth, a change in sense of smell or taste, nausea, and discomfort where any thyroid cancer cells have spread to. Patients given chemotherapy medicines may lose their hair, feel overtired, and experience nerve pain, anemia, and nausea.
