    As with all medications, side effects are possible when taking Effexor XR (venlafaxine). Common side effects of Effexor XR include dizziness, sleepiness, a dry mouth, loss of appetite, nausea, constipation, insomnia, nervousness, sweating, weakness, and sexual side effects of delayed ejaculation in men and decreased sexual desire. Some individuals may experience increased blood pressure or cholesterol, or an increase or decrease in body weight.
