A potential side effect is that you may notice your gums getting irritated when you use a fluoride rinse, especially if you have gum disease. Fluoride rinses can sometimes change the color of your teeth. They may also cause you to feel weak or sick to your stomach or to get headaches. Some people may have an allergic reaction to the product -- swelling, hives or trouble breathing. Let your dentist or doctor know if any of these side effects occur.
